There are people who do not only mirror the packaging but they manufacture duplicate products and sell at the market rates. These situations happen often in many businesses.
So now coming to the answer for solving these riddles and actually how to get rid of it? Mostly the answer is technical thing rather than creative. Your design might get copied by others but they can’t duplicate your packaging expertise. How? That’s exactly what we are goanna tell you!
Gravure Packaging works on roll form for printing. The rolls generally come in 1000, 500 and 100 meters. Every Gravure packager has their distinct setup in terms of machine specifications and roll sizes, ordered and adjusted as per their machine dynamics. Imagine you are at a gravure printing station to print your product pouches for an FMCG product. Now as per your requirement in a particular height and width, the packager changes the specifications of the machine. Also on the other end, the printing roll available at the gravure packager is of 1000 meters. Remember! The changes have been brought into the machine and not into the printing roll. As per your requirements of height and width there is a possibility of 10,090 unites of printed pouches against which the printing roll used is 520 meters. To save that extra use 20 meters of printing roll, the gravure packagers changes the height of the pouch by certain sq. inch or sq. millimeter. Against that the units printed comes to 10,000.
Here the actual size of the pouch changed by sq. inches which becomes a distinct identity of the product. The consumers generally don’t have that much knowledge regarding all these matters when it comes to product packaging. But as the owner or manager of the product, the bells will surely ring!
